Things to Do & Places to See

Parrish's main attraction is the Florida Railroad Museum, which commemorates the area's rich railroading history through weekend train excursions and special themed train rides. However, the museum isn't the only attraction that Parrish residents can enjoy. Here is a quick overview of points of interest in and near this residential community.

Golf Courses Near Parrish

Golfers can choose from several nearby courses, including the public Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto and the Manatee County Golf Course in West Bradenton. These golf courses feature manicured fairways, challenging layouts, and strategically placed hazards. Additional practice facilities are also available at these courses.

Several state parks are located near Parrish, including the Gamble Plantation Historic State Park. This park in nearby Ellenton features a historic mansion that was donated to the state in 1925. Visitors to the park can tour the home—the only plantation house still standing in South Florida—and get a glimpse of life as it was over a century ago.

Another nearby park is Lake Manatee State Park. It is a 30-minute drive southeast of Parrish, located in nearby Bradenton. The park is nestled along Lake Manatee and features activities such as swimming, wildlife observation, kayaking, hiking, boating, and camping.

Schools

Even if you don’t have children, investing in a home with a top-rated school district can boost the value of your property over time. Luckily, Parrish is served by the Manatee County Public School District, which educates around 50,000 students. The area also features a number of private and charter schools.

Healthcare

Parrish residents enjoy access to premier healthcare services in Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, and Sarasota. Manatee Memorial Hospital is the closest facility, but some patients also opt to go to South Bay Hospital, Blake Medical Center, or Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.

Shopping & Dining

Though Parrish remains a largely residential community, it does have quite a few businesses nestled along US-301. Grab some supplies for your next DIY project at Parrish General Supply, or get to know your neighbors at the locally famous PJ's Sandwich Shop.

If you're looking for larger stores and restaurants, head to Parkwood Square Shopping Center or the Ellenton Premium Outlets.

Communities

Don't be fooled by its seemingly rural locale—Parrish is actually one of the fastest growing communities in the Sarasota Metro area. Developers and builders choose Parrish for its ideal location between southwestern Florida's top cities, but the area still retains its distinct historic charm.

If you're looking to make a move to Parrish, expect to pay around $400,000 for an average single-family home. Parrish also features a number of new construction communities with abundant amenities.
