Things to Do & Places to See
Home buyers who love the beach will not be disappointed with Englewood. This community is known for its white sandy beaches, which often offer nature trails and excellent places for a picnic. Here's a quick guide to the best beaches in the Englewood area.
Englewood Beach
Though Englewood Beach is the most popular beach in this community, it never stays crowded. This public beach offers pay-to-park lots, a beautiful boardwalk, picnic tables, a playground, BBQ grills, restrooms, and changing facilities. The restaurants nearby offer plenty of choices for lunch, and the unqiue shops allow beachgoers to enjoy a break from the sun. Englewood Beach is located on North Beach Road, past the bridge from the mainland to the barrier island.
Stump Pass Beach
Stump Pass Beach, which is located a few miles south of Englewood Beach, is part of Florida’s state park system. Although this beach is only a mile long, it certainly leaves a lasting impression because of its tranquility and cleanliness. Popular activities at Stump Pass Beach include kayaking, fishing, beachcombing, hiking, and bird watching.
Blind Pass Beach
Blind Pass Beach, often called Middle Beach, lies just north of Englewood Beach. Here, visitors can enjoy hiking along nature trails, searching for shark teeth, swimming in the surf, and picnicking on a sunny day.
Manasota Beach
The northern-most beach in Englewood is Sarasota County’s Manasota Beach, which is popular because of its seclusion. This beach is the only one in Englewood with a lifeguard.
Other Things to Do in Englewood
Englewood residents also have access to shopping, dining, and recreation away from the beaches. Ann Dever Memorial Regional Park, Lemon Bay Park and Nature Center, and Indian Mound Park provide more outdoor recreation opportunities, while Merchants Crossing offers multiple shopping and dining choices.
